Car seats and baby capsules are notoriously difficult to install and there is no shame in putting your hand up for some help. In fact, after reading instruction manuals and watching YouTube videos, many parents throw their hands up in the air and do just that.
Given the high risks involved in incorrectly fitting a car seat into the car, it makes sense to use the service of a car seat installation professional.
So if you live near or around the Gold Coast and need help with installing child restraints, here is where you can get professional car seat installation services:
As the industry-leading organisation for all things transport and insurance related, it makes sense that RACQ provides a professional ‘Car Restraint Service.’ Located at United Road, Ashmore, RACQ not only provides installation but also sells a range of approved car seats, capsules and boosters. RACQ recommends at least one parent to be present at the time of the fitting so that the RACQ installer can show how to use restraints correctly.
Prices: $55 for members and $80 for non-members. Payment is made at the time of booking. For more information, head to the RACQ website.

Baby Bunting is a well-known baby store that also provides accredited child restraint fitting services. There are two Gold Coast stores that provide this service — the Helensvale store on Pacific Highway (Phone: 07 5580 0144) and the Burleigh Waters store (Phone: 07 5520 5633) on Santa Maria Court.
Bookings are essential so you will need to contact them by phone to do so. The installers will fit and adjust the car seat or baby capsule correctly and will demonstrate the correct method of adjusting the restraint.
Prices: $39 Monday – Friday and $45 on Saturdays.
Buckle Up Baby Australia is an accredited family-run business offering child seat hire and restraint fitting services across Queensland. They offer fitting stations outside two Baby Bunting stores on the Gold Coast — Helensvale and Burleigh Waters.

This mobile service is solely operated by Phil Judd, a certified restraint fitter who has completed the Child Restraint Education Course and has been in child safety – including working with the Queensland Ambulance Service – for nearly 30 years. He also provides a nursery furniture assembly service.
Anchor bolts and extension straps are also available at an additional cost. He services the Brisbane and Gold Coast areas Monday to Friday 8 am — 5 pm, and on Saturdays by appointment.
For more information about Phil and the services he offers, visit the Mobile Baby Seat Fitting Services website.
Prices: For prices and to make an appointment, contact 0408 877 869.
Each service requires that you have an Australian standards-approved car seat or baby capsule. For more information on child restraint laws in Queensland or to confirm correct seating types for your child, visit the Department of Transport and Main Roads website.
You may also want to consider an Isofix car seat, which dramatically reduces the chances of installation errors. Isofix seats click into pre-installed Isofix cars anchor points and include green indicators to show the seat is correctly clicked in. Most European cars from the past 10 years or so should have anchor points already. Many Australian, Japanese and Korean cars produced in the last few years also include the anchor points.
