This is not a drill...

There could soon be no more stuffing around trying to park as close as you can to the Bunnings entry or trying to play boot-tetris so your new angle grinder doesn't squash ya fiddle leaf. You could soon be able to pop down for a sausage and a squiz and carry everything back to your apartment if the new Bunnings Hotel concept kicks off.

Already underway and planned to be complete in 2021, the hotel is a partnership between the hardware store and hotel chain, Mercure.

The lucky suburb to see the first (and maybe only) love child of this beautiful union is Doncaster in Melbourne.

It features 183 rooms over six floors, with two levels of retail shopping, a restaurant, a rooftop terrace, alfresco dining space, sundeck, fitness centre, rooftop pool, a function room and views of the Melbourne CBD skyline. But most importantly the all-you-can-eat brekkie buffet will include everyone's go-to purchase - the signature snag.

Bunnings Acting General Manager for Property, Garry James described the move as an opportunity to "innovate the design of our stores."

This collaboration could mean the end of DIYers Australia-wide having to hide how long they've spent in the hardware superstore by simply getting a room. And if it doesn't take off, that's okay. You can always book a road trip.
