Have you ever lost your phone during an Uber ride? Or perhaps it was your wallet or keys that accidentally got left behind? Well, the comforting news is, you’re not alone, and in fact, according to Uber themselves, things could be much, much worse.

For the third year running, the ride-sharing company has released their 2019 Lost & Found Index, revealing insights ranging from, ‘duh, how predictable!’, all the way to ‘who on earth would leave behind such a thing?’.

First, let’s get the most obvious ones out of the way. Topping the company’s ‘10 Most Commonly Forgotten Items’ list includes mobile phones, wallets, keys, headphones — all of the usual suspects. But the report then takes a questionable turn when the company goes on to list their ‘50 Most Unique Lost Items’, which includes a full set of 18k gold teeth, a black and white tuxedo for a small dog, and a small handmade cat puppet.

Say it with us once again; ‘who on earth would leave behind such a thing!’

The list also goes on to include a Harry Potter Magic Wand, a special pizza costume, and an Elvis cape with a few jewels on it — proving that evidently, dress up parties are still a thing.

But the most worrisome ‘items’ to make it on this list includes a full fish tank with fish and water, a bird, and an 8 week old coffee-coloured Chihuahua. The report doesn’t mention whether or not these pets made it back safely to their owners, but we sure are hoping that they did.

Along with these lists of items, Uber has also shared their findings that you're most likely to lose something on a Saturday or Sunday, especially between the hours of 10pm-1am — which truly, should come as no surprise to anyone.

And here’s where things get really interesting. The study also goes on to list what particular items people were most likely to forget on certain days of the week. The breakdown of this is as follows:

  • Mondays: Watches
  • Tuesdays: Headphones
  • Wednesdays: Laptops
  • Thursdays: Books
  • Fridays: Passports
  • Saturdays: Phones
  • Sundays: Cakes

We'll leave you to decide what to make of the above, and the next time you leave something behind in an Uber, fear not, as according to this video below, the steps are pretty simple in order to get your belongings back. Phew! And remember, don't leave your pets behind and do try your hardest not to make it on Uber's list for next year.
